Why is it so much of an issue that some pony fans do not wish to be associated with the Brony fandom? Why do some Bronies feel that they need to ridicule these fans for their distancing themselves from a group they do not want to be a part of? Is their self esteem really THAT low that they have to tease people who are just trying to leave and are not afraid to say why?
Video's like the one recently posted on Equestria Daily
[link] really creep me out, and remind me why I left that cult-like fandom. People should be free to leave a fandom without being ridiculed for it. And if they choose to say why they are leaving that shouldn't be an issue. You may not think that their reasons for leaving are valid, but that is not for you to decide.
I had a quick look at the comments and I saw someone, who isn't a Brony, saying that they thought the video was unfunny and unfair. He got almost one hundred replies from Bronies trying to convince him that he was STILL a Brony whether he liked it or not; as if he had no say in the matter. That's just creepy guys. For god sake, if people don't want to be a part of your group, just let them leave. Fandoms should be chosen, not enforced.
When that vid was posted on Derpibooru it received a dozen downvotes without people even watching it, then once some viewed it they thought it was actually a harmless parody.
How is your reaction different from theirs?
I think I see where the fault is...
I don't think the video is anything extraordinary, but reading EqDaily comments? That could drive the sanest man to despair...

I definitely define brony as somepony who is at least partially involved in the community, not simply a watcher. Very few shows have that, "community," aspect. I believe the brony phenomenon occurred primarily due to the stigma and discrimination of liking a show titled, "My Little Pony," because it forced followers to have to convince others that they genuinely like the show, and creates a desire to find others that have the same mentality.
There are definitely two tiers of fans of MLP, and it's important to know that to help others become a brony, who may not be aware of a local group. Those of us in my local group did that at a convention panel last week with are intention being trying to help stray ponies find a herd. I am not the forceful recruiter; I tell others about the show and our group, but that's it. On a rare occasion I will encourage somepony to join, who seems like they are on the fence, and does not seem to have a good reason for it.
To be honest, I'm not sure where you got the whole "this is cult video" vibe from. Can facets of the Brony fandom be cultish at times... yes, I won't deny that for a second. But, of the bronies I know, none of them are bowing down to RD statues, and chanting "all hail Twilight Sparkle". Perhaps we might use a similar line in jest, like "FOR CELESTIA'S BEARD!" or something equally ridiculous, but only in fun, like an inside joke. To be honest, I'm getting tire of you calling me a member of a cult because I associate myself with the brony fandom. Are you really that jaded that all bronies are cult members to you? Cuz it sure seems that way, these days.
And don't you dare try to construe this comment as an attempt to get you to call yourself a brony, I get it, you're not a brony, just whatever. That's all I'm saying.
Love your art, please draw some more,

And maybe it was a little harsh to generalize bronies as cult-like, but your sick of me calling you a member of a cult? When I have ever called any brony cult-like before now?
